Exhibit Explores the Work of Donald Deskey

University of Cincinnati Showcases Pioneer Designer

The legacy of design pioneer Donald Deskey will be on display starting Jan. 6 in the Reed Gallery of the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. Paired with the exhibit will be a Feb. 3 symposium also examining the impact of Deskey’s design leadership.

Titled “The Unconstrained Mind, Examined,” the symposium will run from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, in Room 5401, DAAP. Panels speakers will include:

  • Craig Vogel, DAAP associate dean, who will discuss “Deskey: An Iconic Figure in the Golden Age of Design.”
  • Matt Carcieri, Procter & Gamble associate director of Global Brand Building, who will discuss “Honoring Heritage: Why Brands Should Appreciate Their Parents.”
  • Gail Davidson, curator and head, Cooper-Hewitt’s National Design Museum, who will discuss “Donald Deskey: From Blue Earth to Radio City Music Hall.”
